In 2004, Bryan couldn't swim 1 yard. He wasn't even allowed in a swimming pool. He couldn't climb stairs without becoming exhausted. He had lost 95% of his kidney function.

On November 21, 2010, Bryan raced Ironman Arizona, and completed the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run, thanks to the miracle of a kidney transplant from his cousin Diane, in 12 hours and 45 minutes.

Elida is a spirited, 12 year old girl from San Antonio, waiting for a kidney transplant. A year ago, she lost all her kidney function, and now spends 4 hours, three times a week, having her blood filtered by a dialysis machine to stay alive.

Transplants for Children makes sure that kids like Elida and their families get the support they need before, during, and after a transplant.

FACT: There are over 100,000 people on the organ transplant waiting list in the United States.

FACT: Over 10,000 people in Texas are on that list.

FACT: An organ donor can save 8 lives and enhance the lives of over 50 people.

I want to show the world how a transplant is a transformational gift, and how supporting kids like Elida and Transplants For Children can transform their lives.

While an Ironman seems like an extreme way to show the world the power of a transplant, I can't think of a stronger statement I could make about the difference it can make in someone's life.
