Ironman Arizona:

Ironman Arizona 2010 will be held in Tempe, Arizona, on November 21, 2010. All Ironman "140.6" races include a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run, all of which must be completed within 17 hours of the start.

Swim 2.4 miles

I started doing short distance triathlons a year and a half after my transplant, as a way to prove to myself that I was healthy again. I became hooked. Attempting an Ironman is something altogether different. Many people have questioned the sanity of being a transplant patient and attempting something many "normal" people won't attempt. Trust me, no one who does an Ironman is normal.

Bike 112 miles

As a transplant recipient, I want to show people what is possible with a transplant. That two minutes on the online registry could save eight lives. That checking that box on a drivers license application can completely change someone's life. That helping kids like Elida make it through their transplant experience successfully opens a new world for them.

Run 26 miles

I want to prove to myself that after being limited by illness, by diet, by machines, that I can do something ridiculous, and something I never dreamed possible. It's really the first thing I've ever taken on in life with no idea if I was capable. On November 21st, I'll find out.
